There have been times that we’ve gone to the beach and no matter how much sunscreen we put on, we still get burnt. When our youngest was a baby we’d spend days at the beach and it was challenging to find a place to put him down. He’d end up with sand in his mouth and sand in his eyes. Other times we have been camping in the desert and the kids don’t want to play outside because it is too hot and sunny.
What’d we find?
We found a solution to all of this. We purchased an Easthills Outdoors beach tent. We’ve had it a couple weeks now and the kids have gotten a ton of use out of it. We’ve been staying in the desert and it provides a great area for them to play and stay out of the sun and it blocks the wind.
It makes a better play area than a regular tent because it is open on one side so many kids can play and they aren’t closed in. This is nice when the parents still want to be able to keep an eye on the kids.
Why this one?
We really like this brand because it is super quick and easy to set up. It has a rope in the middle and with one pull, it’s set up. It also has many windows that can be closed if it’s windy and a door that can be zipped up for a private dressing area at the beach. There are guy lines to stake it down in the wind, but we haven’t used those yet. We haven’t needed to because it has pockets on each side that can be filled with sand or rocks to weigh it down. When we are ready to pack it up, the pockets un-velcro and all the sand can easily be dumped out.
Since we’ve only had it a couple weeks and we are in the desert we have not had a chance to use it at the beach. But, we are headed to Montana for the summer and we will be spending most of our time at the beach so it will get lots of use. We don’t have to worry about a baby anymore with sand in his mouth and eyes, but even for older kids it will provide a place out of the sand to eat lunch at the beach.
So a beach tent is not something I ever thought I would buy, but it has been a great investment. It’s one of those things that you didn’t realize you need, until you have it. We have gotten so much use out of it already and I’m sure we’ll have hours and hours more.
