Exploring Canyonlands

Utah has some amazing national parks.  This trip through only 3 of them were on our route.  First we saw Capitol Reef, then Arches, and finally we went to Canyonlands.

Our first stop was at the visitor center; we got Jr. Ranger books and learned about a ranger talk at the far end of the park.  We had just enough time to drive to the far end of the park to listen to the talk.  You never know what you are going to get with ranger talks.  We’ve been to some that are drawn out, boring, and we don’t learn a thing.  Others are very interesting and we learn a lot.  We decided to test our luck and try it out.  We were glad we did.  She let each of the boys help with her presentation and she gave a history of the geology of all the Utah National Parks.  We learned a lot and are now more excited to see the rest of the parks.

After the talk we checked out the canyons.  Emmett was excited to see them and thought we were at the Grand Canyon.  I guess we’ll have to get down there to check that one out.  There were amazing views and it was awesome to see things from a different perspective.  Arches is very close to Canyonlands, but at Arches everything is up, at canyonlands we were at the top looking down.

The boys had a lot of fun playing with their friend, Riley.  We always love when we are traveling close to our friends and other traveling families.  It was great to catch up with them.  After the National Park we went into town with them for dinner and then to their RV park to jump in the pool.

The scenery in Utah is beautiful but we while we were there the weather was hot.  We stayed in our RV out in the desert without hookups or electricity, so no air conditioning for us.  Luckily we don’t spend much time in the RV during the day, we like to go out and explore, so we stayed cool enough.  But now it’s time to find somewhere a bit cooler.  So after Canyonlands we packed up and headed south.

About Fummins Family

In 2016 a family hit the road with 5 of their children. They were going to travel the country in a Ford Excursion that had a cummins engine. A ford with a cummins, hence the name, Fummins. Ford+Cummins=Fummins. It was going to be a fummins family roadtrip. Within 3 months they decided that the travel trailer they were pulling wasn't working well for their family. They needed more space so they upgraded to a fifth wheel. It's not easy to pull a fifth wheel with an excursion, so they had to bid farewell to the fummins. They talked about changing the name of theirs travels, but decided to hold onto it for a while longer. They already had a website, blog, youtube, instagram and facebook. After 2 more years they decided to make the switch to Roadschool. Here they will share some of the old posts and video. It may be old information, but it's still just as good...at least most of it!
