File manager

James Boudreaux

The raspberry pi file manager can be a hassle if you don’t know what your doing. the file manager comes preinstalled on all raspberry pi’s. To start lets open the file manager. As you can see, there is several folders. Pictures, templates, desktop, documents, downloads, music, and public . All of these are where you can store your stuff. when you first turn it on you will notice that most of the folders are empty because they are meant for you.

Depending on your SD card size I wouldn’t store too much stuff actually on the computer. That can mess it up badly. The first thing that you need to know is how to extract something. Just right click on the file and click extract here. Wait a few seconds and it extracted. If you are looking for something specific just use the search box that appears above the folders.

If you download anything from the web it will show up inside of your downloads folder. on the bottom right corner you can see how much space you have and how much you have used. make sure to keep track on those numbers.

The more ram that you use the worse your raspberry pi is going to run.
