Today started off with a lot of uncertainty. You may have heard, Anthony broke his wrist Friday night, and had a soft bandage that needed replaced by a cast. Normally they like to wait a week before they remove the splint and cover the limb with a cast. So we were up early, and called the place that does casts at 8am sharp, right when they opened. First they were talking later this week, then they said 1:30, and when we called back to confirm they said 9:45. Harmony took him up there for that, while the rest of us cleaned the house, and organized new piles of stuff: Storage, thrift store and trash. And we did manage to sell several additional items this morning as well. Once Harmony and Anthony got back, we ran the stuff to the thrift store and storage, and by that time the garbage man had come, so we filled the toter up again. So now we were racing to leave!! Moved some things around to shift some weight, hooked up and pulled it across the street to the fair grounds and leveled it. And we were off!
Did I mention that it had rained on us most of the morning? My cloths weren’t soaked, but I was pretty much damp from head to toe. The rain followed us for the first leg of our drive. I definitely earned my white knuckle driving gloves today! We stopped between Libby and Troy Montana at Kootenai Falls for a late lunch. We didn’t get to explore much, but we have been there before, it’s a beautiful area. If you’re passing through there, I definitely recommend stopping.
So we pressed on. The drive was definitely curvy and hilly, and had its share of crappy roads. But once we turned at Bonners Ferry, the roads seemed to smooth out, and we seemed to move along pretty good. And it helps that Emmett was sleeping all that time!
We got to our site about 5:20ish and our tag and site map was taped to the window of the office. We found our spot pretty quickly, and got in, leveled and hooked up in 40 min. Pretty good for a couple of rookies!
This is where the story goes south. We are settled in, getting some dinner ready, and Harmony notices some water on the bathroom floor, coming from the wall. After further investigation, we find that the outside kitchen faucet had been turned on, and the water was running, and filled the gray water tank to the point of the sink backing up, and the water flooding down. So Britt and I spring into action with towels and opening spaces to drain the water out. A lot of water was dumped! We seemed to have got all the standing water. We went and showered at the club house here, and put the towels in the dryer and now they are all back in the flooded areas to try and absorb the rest of the water. Needless to say a sour ending on a pretty good day.
We did make it in one piece, and are ready for some sleep, and tomorrow is a new day!
