Looking for a unique complete math curriculum? Look no further. Life of Fred has it all. Whether your child is 3 years old or in college, Life of Fred has the book for you.
There are a couple things I love about this curriculum. The first is that it covers more than just math. The second is that it gives you a reason for learning…a real life example of when you can use it…kind of.
Most math books are filled with numbers and very little words. That’s not the case here. The Life of Fred books are filled with stories, most of them are a day in the life of Fred. He is a fictitious young professor at a college. His stories are fun and humorous, which keep children, and adults, engaged in the story. In the stories you will also learn hundreds of other topics such as grammar, science, and of course, math. Each book has a list of the topics you will learn. I have read about onomatopoetic words, sigma notation, ketones and glucose, idioms, the great depression and much, much more.
I have not found another math curriculum that covers as many topics and explains things at such an easy level as Life of Fred. This is not an affiliate post and I am not getting paid for this review. I have used these books with several of my children and have seen them learn a lot from them. If you want to check them out go to https://www.stanleyschmidt.com/FredGauss/index2.html where you can see sample pages from the books and read all the topics you will learn about in each book.
One other great thing about these books is that they don’t require any help from adults, except for the very beginning books, which need a parent to read. Once kids get into the elementary books they are easy for children to work through on their own, with only a little reading assistance. Past elementary, your child can work through the chapters on their own, check their own work and take quizzes at the end of the chapters.
So, if you are looking for a curriculum that your child will enjoy, have fun with, and learn something from, check out Life of Fred.
