Livin Life

It is Friday night, and we are feeling right!  Isnt that how the song goes?  Anyhow, it is Friday, we are staying at a campground outside of Silver Creek WA.  It’s a small town about 100 miles south of Seattle.  We have been here since Monday, and done a lot.  Tuesday we went to MT Rainier.  We drove a loop that covered a couple water falls, and went along a steep canyon.  Wednesday we went down to Mayfield lake that’s about 5 min from our campground and went paddle boarding.  Thursday we had a lazy day, we hung out around camp and went swimming and not a lot more.  Today we ventured into Chehalis, which is about 30 min from camp.  It’s a small town that was a hub for the pacific railroad back in the day.  We needed a few supplies so we went shopping.  Then grabbed a couple pizzas and hit a park.  After that we went to the Lewis County Museum.  It wasn’t a huge museum, but it did have a sweet model train set that was in the shape of the area.  On top of that, it was certified haunted, so that kind of gave it another level of intrigue.   There was a huge stump that Presidential Candidates and presidents used to stand on to speak.  President McKinley was scheduled to speak on it, but died shortly before he did.   After that we sought out a local favorite which is a 100 year old steam engine train.  Unfortunately that museum was closed, but we were able to check out the train.  Near the train we found a small farm vegetable stand where we got some fresh sweet corn, zuchini and a pumpkin.  We finished the day with haircuts, a dip in the pool, and dinner, and the corn was awesome!  Unfortunately its Friday, so the park went from a ghost town, to filled with weekend warriors.  It was definitely interesting watching them pour in with their various rigs and un-orthodox parking/leveling tactics.  The park is filled with the aroma of many different meals, and the sounds of many different people.

About Fummins Family

In 2016 a family hit the road with 5 of their children. They were going to travel the country in a Ford Excursion that had a cummins engine. A ford with a cummins, hence the name, Fummins. Ford+Cummins=Fummins. It was going to be a fummins family roadtrip. Within 3 months they decided that the travel trailer they were pulling wasn't working well for their family. They needed more space so they upgraded to a fifth wheel. It's not easy to pull a fifth wheel with an excursion, so they had to bid farewell to the fummins. They talked about changing the name of theirs travels, but decided to hold onto it for a while longer. They already had a website, blog, youtube, instagram and facebook. After 2 more years they decided to make the switch to Roadschool. Here they will share some of the old posts and video. It may be old information, but it's still just as good...at least most of it!
