Oregon

Our first trip through Oregon was in the fall of 2016. We did not get to spend as much time as we would have liked here the first time through.  Oregon is a big state with a lot to offer.  But unfortunately we had somewhat of a time table, and we went through the state pretty fast.

We crossed the Columbia River into Astoria, and then took the Pacific Highway 101 south.  Our first stop was a Thousand Trails near Pacific City, OR.

The campground was huge, and not far from a windy beach.  The first full day we went and toured the Tillamook Cheese Factory.  It was pretty sweet watching them work.  If you’re ever in the area, definitely check it out.

The kids made some sand castles on the beach, and rolled down some dunes.  The stay was entirely too short for sure.  But it gives us something to look forward to when we return to this beautiful state.  Our next stop was about 100 miles down the coast to Florence, OR.  It’s a recreational haven.  There are sand dunes, and water everywhere.  We only spent a weekend here, but could definitely spend a lot of time in the area.  Again the weather wasn’t the greatest, but we made due with it.

We went through Oregon on our way south the winter of 2017/2018, but only spent a few nights. Then in the spring of 2018 we stored our 5th wheel on a farm in eastern Oregon, and went to a Fulltime Families retreat that was at Camp Attitude in central Oregon. After the retreat we headed north to Alaska!

Upon our return from Alaska, our first stop after picking up the 5th wheel was Bend Oregon to see friends, and get our bearings after the 112 day trip to Alaska. We had a great time spending Labor Day there with friends.
