Retro pi is a gaming OS for raspberry pi that can be used for a lot of other things. To get started, open up Raspberry pi imager (click here to install it) and select emulation and game OS. Then click RetroPie

Click on it and select which type of RPI that you have. Then select your chosen SD card and click write. It might take a few minutes to write, so wait patiently. Once it is done, eject the card and shut down your pi. Then switch out the SD cards from the RPI OS to the retro pi one. Once it loads, the first thing is will ask you to do it to configure a game pad. You can use a keyboard or a game controller. If you want to buy a controller, click here for a basic one. for other options, click here. if you have an Xbox controller you can still use it by getting a USB cable and then plugging it into the back of your controller and into the pi. Once you configure it, it will open to the game menu.
Adding Games
First thing that you notice is that there are no games. You can buy retro pi SD cards on Amazon that are filled with over 14,000 games. to add games, you wil
l needs ROMS. ROMS are games that you can download. Remember that not all ROMS are legal so you need to make sure that they are.
To add a ROM, create a folder onto an empty USB drive called Retropie. Boot up your raspberry pi and stick the USB drive in. Wait about a minute then insert it back into your computer. Reopen up the folder and you will see that your pi added a bunch of folders. Click on the folder titled roms and you will see a bunch more folders. In each of these folders is where you will put certain types of ROMs.
